All across America, people are alarmed about mass illegal immigration. The FAIR Congressional Task Force formulated the Pledge on Homeland Security to help voters gauge what steps candidates for seats in the House of Representatives are prepared to take to restore control of U.S. borders and ensure enforcement of laws against illegal immigration. The Commitment asks candidates to express their support for any or all of 10 principled initiatives that would restore border controls and strengthen enforcement of immigration laws to curtail illegal immigration into the United States. The 10 identified initiatives are an opportunity for candidates to demonstrate their commitment to border security, interior enforcement, removing incentives for illegal immigration, and comprehensive border and enforcement legislation. Each of these initiatives corresponds to currently pending legislation in the House of Representatives.
Ever since the terrorist attacks of 9/11, Americans have grown increasingly restive at the failure of Congress to take consistently meaningful steps to protect homeland security by strengthening border controls and enforcing laws against illegal immigration. By filling out the Pledge and returning it to the FAIR Congressional Task Force, each candidate can let voters know what specific steps they are or are not willing to take to regain control over U.S. immigration policy. The Pledge offers candidates an opportunity to choose yes or no to each of the 10 initiatives.
In addition to helping voters make informed decisions, the Pledge will help educate the candidates to better understand a sampling of the range of policy options available in legislating border security and immigration enforcement. Importantly, the Pledge is designed not as an all or nothing proposition. Instead it is designed to allow candidates to inform the public about the initiatives they are prepared to support. Similarly, it is hoped that once the elections are over, those who were elected will come to the nation's capital prepared to support specific legislation the public favors.
The FAIR Congressional Task Force will make the results of this effort available to the public by posting on its website, www.NoMoreAmnesty.com, a running tally of candidates' responses to the Pledge on Homeland Security.
The FAIR Congressional Task Force is an entity organized under section 501(C) 4 of the Internal Revenue Code. Its objective is to educate the public on the need for regaining control over American immigration policy.
